New Jersey School Board Association
Attention Parents:
Find out how state and federal actions affect you. - Actions taken by the state and federal government often have a profound effect on the quality and cost of public education. The NJSBA Citizen Action Project, a grassroots information and advocacy network established by the New Jersey School Boards Association, instantly alerts parents as issues emerge that impact them as taxpayers or affect the education of their children.

This free service also provides a quick and easy way for citizens to express their opinion in time to influence the outcome of events in the state and nation's capital. To join the NJSBA Citizen Action Project, go to www.njsba.org and click on the Citizen Action Project tab. Fill in the fields and hit the "submit" button. You will soon receive your free grassroots advocacy kit in the mail and begin to get emailed reports on government activities.

America Goes Back to School: Get Involved!
The U. S. Department of Education has on their home page all the information you need to launch an America Goes Back to School: Get Involved partnership in your community. The full text of the Partners' Activity Guide, including useful tips on how to involve community partners in your efforts, is available.

American Library Association (ALA): Resources for Parents & Kids
The American Library Association (ALA) is the oldest, largest, and most influential library association in the world. This page provides several resources for parents, including: (1) The Librarians Guide to Cyberspace for Parents & Kids, (2) the Parents Page: Library Connections for Parents, and (3) Links for Parents and Caregivers. Users can also link to the 50+ Great sites for Kids and Parents, as voted by librarians who work with children and the Web everyday.

Child Safety on the Information Highway
Presents the full text of a brochure produced by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Interactive Services Association. The brochure discusses benefits and risks of the Information Highway; ways parents can reduce the risks for their children; and rules for children's on-line Safety.

Family Education Network
The purpose of the Family Education Network (FEN) is to provide education information, resources, and services for families; connect parents with experts and other parents for advice and support; and empower parents to speak out on education issues. It is designed as on online community center for parents with children up to age 18. The site features the following sections: Learning at School, Learning at Home, Learning Tools, Learning Activities, Learning for Kids, Special Needs, and Issues and Action. An online discussion area is also available.

National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education
The National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education (NCPIE) is dedicated todeveloping effective family/school partnerships in schools throughout America.
